KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional's (PN) preparations for the upcoming Melaka state election remain in limbo after the High Court today rejected its bid to temporarily lift the suspension imposed on the coalition by the Registrar of Societies.

Although the court granted PN leave to proceed with its judicial review challenging the suspension, the coalition remains barred from carrying out its political activities, including preparations to field candidates under its name and symbol.

High Court judge Datuk Azizan Md Arshad granted PN leave to commence judicial review proceedings but dismissed its application for an immediate interim stay of the suspension.

PN filed the judicial review application on Oct 5, challenging a show-cause notice dated Sept 22 and a suspension order dated Sept 23.
