Since 2023, Japan has ranked fourth behind the US, China and Germany.
The IMF's GDP projections were released earlier this month, amid the yen's continuing weakness against the US dollar and sluggish Japanese economic growth.
According to the IMF's World Economic Outlook, Japan's nominal GDP is projected at US$4.3419 trillion in 2026 and US$4.4676 trillion in 2027.
