KOTA BARU: Twelve years after Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 vanished, Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) benefits continue to provide financial stability to next-of-kin who lost their primary breadwinners.

The Dependants' Benefit (FOT) under the Employment Injury Scheme of the Employees' Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4) provides continuous financial security to affected families, helping dependants cover basic household expenses and fund tertiary education.

One recipient, Nurlaila Ngah, 52, said she was left to raise three school-going children alone after her husband, flight steward Wan Swaid Wan Ismail, went missing in the March 8, 2014 incident.

"I am grateful my husband contributed to Perkeso while serving as a flight steward with Malaysia Airlines since 1995. Even though he has not been found, his children receive Perkeso benefits as the incident was categorised as an employment injury.
