NEW YORK, Oct 23 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The US dollar weakened in late trading on Thursday, Xinhua reported.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.17 per cent to 101.608 at 3.00 pm (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to US$1.1220 from US$1.1223 in the previous session, and the British pound was up to US$1.3400 from US$1.3384 in the previous session.

The US dollar bought 156.78 Japanese yen, lower than 158.29 Japanese yen of the previous session. The US dollar declined to 0.8205 Swiss francs from 0.8254 Swiss francs, and lost to 1.4008 Canadian dollars from 1.4052 Canadian dollars. The US dollar rose to 9.9079 Swedish Kronor from 9.8985 Swedish Kronor.
