KUALA LUMPUR: Sharifah Mahani Syed Abdul Aziz, mother of Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, believes that effective parenting begins with understanding that every child has a distinct personality and requires an individual approach.
In a recent interview, she said parents should not expect all their children to respond to the same methods of discipline, as their emotional needs, temperaments, and levels of independence vary.
"Every child should be raised differently. We cannot treat them all the same. It is like the five fingers on our hand — each has a different shape and size," she said.
Sharifah Mahani explained that some children are easily hurt, while others are more independent or willing to compromise.
