BATU BERENDAM: Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) has proposed allocating seven appointed state assembly seats based on popular vote as part of six governance reform initiatives in its manifesto for the 16th Melaka election.

Bersama leader Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli said the seven seats would be distributed proportionately according to the percentage of popular votes secured by parties contesting the election, rather than being monopolised by the party forming the state government.

"The additional assemblymen will be appointed automatically based on the percentage of votes secured by the respective parties in the state election.

"This approach is aimed at ensuring that every vote receives fair representation, including for parties that secure substantial voter support but fail to win many state seats," he said at a press conference to launch Bersama's election manifesto.
