KUALA LUMPUR: A private clinic director in Lahad Datu, Sabah, has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) recently over alleged fraudulent claims under the Health Screening Programme (HSP) dating back to 2023.

The arrest followed a report lodged by the Social Security Organisation (Socso) after it detected irregularities in claims submitted under the programme.

The clinic director is believed to have misused contributors' information to submit claims under the programme.

In a statement, Socso said its Anti-Fraud, Ethics and Integrity Division (AFEI) had conducted intelligence gathering and internal investigations upon receiving the complaint to establish the cause of the incident, including possible misuse of contributors' information and irregularities in the claims process.
