KUALA LUMPUR: Google will invest US$15 billion in Malaysia between 2027 and 2028 to develop digital infrastructure, including data centre campuses in industrial zones, and expand clean energy capacity and strengthen local water security.

The investment, announced in the presence of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today, forms part of Google's plan to support Malaysia's next phase of digital growth through energy-efficient infrastructure and initiatives to upskill about 800,000 Malaysians by 2031.

The company also plans to add more than one gigawatt (GW) of clean energy capacity to the national grid through new collaborations.

The latest investment builds on Google's more than 15-year presence in Malaysia and expands on its digital infrastructure investment announced in 2024.
