Formerly the head of Bukit Aman’s criminal investigation department, Shuhaily Zain was seconded to AKPS as its director-general on July 1 last year.KUALA LUMPUR: Shuhaily Zain has yet to receive an official letter from the home ministry confirming his transfer from the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) back to the police force, says his lawyer.

Rafique Rashid Ali said his client remained authorised to carry out his duties as the agency’s director-general until such an official directive was issued.

“To date, he has not been found guilty of any offence. He can therefore continue to carry out his duties as usual,” he said when met at the court complex here.

Rafique urged home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to clarify Shuhaily’s status, saying the minister’s earlier announcement about the transfer had given rise to speculation.
