PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry is investigating complaints of suspected food poisoning linked to a bread product following reports circulating on social media.

In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said the investigation was being conducted under the Food Act 1983 and its related regulations.

The manufacturer had been asked to provide an explanation and informed the ministry that its internal checks had found no irregularities in the production process, recipe changes or breaches of food safety procedures.

However, the ministry said it had been unable to determine the source of the complaints because the details provided, including production batch numbers and expiry dates, were insufficient to trace the products involved.
