BATU PAHAT: All schools in the district will be closed tomorrow after the area recorded a very unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at 8pm today.

Batu Pahat district officer Kamalludin Jamal said the decision was made after the API reading reached 203.

Kamalludin, who is also the chairman of the District Disaster Management Committee, said the authorities were monitoring air quality and API readings with relevant agencies to ensure the safety and health of residents, particularly students and school staff.

"In line with the National Haze Action Plan and Education Ministry guidelines, measures related to haze management in schools must be implemented based on API readings and directives from the education authorities.
