KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia ended lower today in line with weaker regional markets, failing to track Wall Street’s rally as elevated US Treasury yields and renewed gains in crude oil weighed on sentiment.
At 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 21.57 points to 1,611.78 from Tuesday’s close of 1,633.35.
Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd vice-president of equity research Thong Pak Leng said Brent crude oil rose above US$101 per barrel following Houthi attacks in Saudi Arabia, rekindling concerns over the Middle East supply disruptions.
“Meanwhile, the US 10-year Treasury yield remained near 5.3%, while the 30-year yield stayed above 5.6%, keeping investors cautious over the outlook for inflation and monetary easing,” he told Bernama.
