KUALA LUMPUR: The Association of Malaysian Express Carriers (AMEC) has urged the government to recognise the courier industry as essential infrastructure supporting the national digital economy and resilience in the 2027 Budget.

AMEC president Ronald Tan said the budget provided an opportunity to strengthen conditions allowing courier companies to invest, improve productivity and serve businesses and consumers over the long term.

"Malaysia's digital economy depends on dependable delivery networks," he said.

Tan said the 2027 Budget should support industry modernisation through technology adoption, operational efficiency and workforce development.

This will enable courier companies to improve service quality and meet changing customer expectations.
