JOHOR BARU: Haze conditions worsened across Johor tonight, with all eight air quality monitoring stations recording unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings.
As of 8pm, Segamat recorded the highest reading at 179, followed by Pasir Gudang (178), Larkin (175), Batu Pahat and Kluang (169 each), Kota Tinggi and Pengerang (169 each), and Tangkak (168).
The readings came after the state government announced that all schools in Johor would be closed for two days tomorrow and Friday as a precautionary measure.
The closure follows a decree by Regent of Johor Tunku Mahkota Ismail, with Johor Education and Information Committee chairman Dr Muhammad Naqib Md Ghazali saying the move was aimed at protecting pupils' health and safety.
