KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is considering missile systems from South Korea, France and Turkiye as alternatives to the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) for its Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said South Korea's LIG, Turkiye's Roketsan and France's MBDA were among the suppliers being considered.

"We are weighing all this and we will ensure that the delivery and installation period is not longer, or excessively long, like the Norwegian contract, which took up to eight years," he said when winding up the debate on the Auditor General's Report 2/2026 in the Dewan Rakyat.

He said missile purchases Malaysia had made, was making or planned to make from LIG, Roketsan and MBDA had delivery periods of around three years.
