PETALING JAYA: What does a healthy Malaysian diet look like? Is it the nasi lemak many grew up eating, the bowl of noodles after a long day at work, or the quick breakfast grabbed on the way to the office?
And if a favourite food is part of your routine, does eating healthily mean giving it up altogether?
The answer is more nuanced than a list of foods to avoid. Nutrition is influenced by overall dietary patterns: what you eat, how much you eat, how often you eat and how active you are.
Malaysia’s nutrition challenge, therefore, requires coordinated action from multiple stakeholders, including government, industry and communities, supported by strong healthcare and education systems.
