An 18-year delay in gazetting land reserved for flood retention ponds in the capital has resulted in 32.4ha alienated to developers, the Dewan Rakyat was told yesterday.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said a plan to reserve the land was approved on June 19, 1998, but it was never gazetted.

"The Federal Territories Land Working Committee revoked the reservation approval on Oct 9, 2016."

She said this allowed the land to be alienated to developers, with premiums totalling RM214 million.

She said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had investigated the land alienation and informed the Federal Territories Department that no case could be established.
