(Pexels pic)KUALA LUMPUR: Movie tickets and local theatre performances in the federal territories will be fully exempt from entertainment duty, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.

Anwar, who is also the finance minister, said state governments are urged to adopt similar measures to support local creative talents.

He also said that more than RM130 million will be allocated to support the film, music and local creative content sectors.

“This includes incentives for local and international film and animation productions that shoot in Malaysia, as well as additional incentives for works that showcase Malaysian culture and national identity,” he said when tabling the 2027 budget in the Dewan Rakyat.
