IPOH: The Health Ministry will expand its Hospital Services Outsourcing Programme (HSOP) to cover more patients and potentially new specialities following an increase in its allocation to RM200 million under the 2027 Budget.
Its deputy director-general of health (medical), Datuk Dr Mohd Azman Yaacob, said the additional RM56 million would enable the ministry to refer more patients to private hospitals for treatment.
He said the ministry was also studying the possibility of extending the programme to other specialities, including oncology.
"HSOP aims to reduce waiting times and ease congestion at government hospitals.
