KUALA LUMPUR: Actor and television presenter Kamal Adli has described Indonesian actor Boy Hamzah's provocative remarks — sparked by a Malaysian boycott of an Indonesian personal care brand — as unprofessional and warned that such antics risk straining ties between the two neighbouring nations.

The 40-year-old artiste stressed that the controversy should not be blown out of proportion to the point of inciting hostility or leading either side to belittle the other country.

Instead, he urged all parties to show maturity when handling differing viewpoints and to refrain from entertaining statements that could escalate tension.

"I think he was being unprofessional. I know he was actually triggered. But we don't need to get worked up or retaliate. We should just focus on taking care of our families and children rather than giving weight to these issues," Kamal said.
