KUCHING (Oct 2): Air quality in several areas of Sarawak deteriorated at noon on Friday with Kanowit recording an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 100, almost hitting the ‘Unhealthy’ level.
According to the Natural Resources and Environment Board’s API Status for Sarawak, the API reading for the area at 8am was slightly lower at 95.
API readings also climbed in Sri Aman from 79 at 8am to 86 at noon, Serian (77 to 82), Lubok Antu (76 to 82), Samarahan and Tebedu (both 76 to 79), Betong (69 to 75), Kuching (70 to 74), Kapit (63 to 67), Lundu (63 to 64), Sibu (60 to 62), Bintulu (58 to 61), Samalaju (58 to 60), and Miri (48 to 52).
In Sarikei and Mukah, the API readings increased two points to 59 and 56, respectively by noon.
