GOF Sarawak seizes RM84.42 mln worth of contraband in 29 Op Taring raids

KUCHING (Oct 2): The General Operations Force (GOF) Sarawak Brigade seized contraband worth RM84.42 million in 29 successful Op Taring operations conducted between Sept 14 and Sept 30.

GOF Sarawak commander SAC Datuk Lim Bak Phai, in a statement, said the operations led to the arrest of 41 individuals, comprising 30 locals and 11 foreign nationals.

“Their arrests involved various offences, including the storage and sale of untaxed cigarettes and liquor, misappropriation of diesel, smuggling of controlled items and frozen food products, unpermitted timber collection and processing, immigration offences, as well as drug-related offences, including the illegal processing and sale of ‘ketum’ water,” he said.
