The Malaysian Private Dental Practitioners’ Association (MPDPA) expresses its growing concern over the proliferation of unethical and misleading advertising practices within the dental profession, particularly through aggressive price promotions, questionable marketing tactics, and the increasing involvement of third-party marketing agencies in soliciting patients on behalf of dental clinics.
Dental care must not be reduced to a price war. Patients deserve to know what they are paying for, why a treatment is recommended, and what risks and alternatives they should consider.
While such practices may appear to offer patients greater affordability and choice, the underlying implications for patient safety, transparency, informed consent and public confidence in dental health care cannot be ignored.
