KUALA LUMPUR: The government has yet to set a timeframe for resolving all outstanding 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) claims and completing asset recovery efforts.
Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the process depended on court decisions and enforcement actions locally and abroad.
"Currently, the government, through 1MDB, is intensifying efforts to negotiate compensation and recover assets and funds linked to 1MDB through legal action and asset recovery mechanisms, both locally and abroad," he said.
He was responding to Howard Lee Chuan How (PH-Ipoh Timor), who asked when the government expected to settle 1MDB's remaining net liabilities, estimated at RM20.1 billion, and how much it expected to recover from each claim.
