IPOH: A senior police officer escaped the death penalty after the murder charge against him over the death of Form Five student Muhammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie, 17, was amended at the High Court here today.
Deputy Superintendent Mohd Nazri Abdul Razak, 47, was sentenced to seven years and six months' imprisonment after pleading guilty to the amended charge under Section 304(b) of the Penal Code before Judge Datuk Bhupindar Singh Gurcharan Singh Preet.
The court ordered Mohd Nazri to serve his prison sentence from the date of his arrest on Dec 15, 2023.
