KUALA LUMPUR: The E-Commerce Bill, aimed at strengthening accountability among online platforms and sellers, is being revised to include a licensing regime.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Armizan Mohd Ali said the ministry was ready to table the bill earlier, but the cabinet called for further improvements.

"When we took the bill to the cabinet, it asked for several improvements, including a firm licensing regime.

"That is why we had to revise it. I apologise, and we will expedite it," he said in response to Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (Muda-Muar) in the Dewan Rakyat.
