PUTRAJAYA: All agencies under the Home Ministry must ensure assets are operational and on standby for the northeast monsoon expected from November to March next year.

Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Awang Alik Jeman said early preparations were crucial to ensure personnel were trained, equipment was functioning, and operational coordination was seamless during floods or emergencies.

He said all heads of department must ensure assets such as boats and engines were ready for deployment, rather than waiting for disaster to strike before taking action.

"Let there be no boat where, when you try to start it, the engine fails to start. Let there be no coordination issues about who needs to go and how operations should be carried out.
