PETALING JAYA: Two doctors are contesting for the Bemban seat in the Melaka election, including former state opposition leader Dr Yadzil Yaakub, who is seeking a second term as the constituency’s assemblyman.

Yadzil, contesting for Perikatan Nasional, faces a four-cornered battle as he is challenged by Bersatu’s Rabaie Ab Hamid, Bersama’s Dr Solehin Saleh - the elder brother of Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh - and independent candidate Abd Halim Said.

Bemban is a mixed seat where Malay voters comprise 60% of the electorate, followed by Chinese (21%) and Indians (17%).
