ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) foiled an attempt to smuggle 180kg of tobacco into Singapore at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex on Saturday.
The tobacco, packed in eight packages, was hidden in the cabin of a Singapore-bound lorry driven by a Malaysian man.
Sultan Abu Bakar Complex MCBA deputy commander Azura Muhammed Kifli said the consignment, worth RM8,535.60, was detected during a cargo scanner inspection.
"A suspicious image in the driver's cabin prompted officers to conduct a physical inspection, which led to the discovery of the eight packages."
