KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 249,000 people have been discharged under the Second Chance Policy so far this year, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.

Speaking at a programme aimed at helping creative industry players facing financial difficulties, Azalina said the Insolvency Department was also working with the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) to provide them with access to assistance and advice.

Azalina said the programme with Finas aimed to offer services and, most importantly, to put in place the Second Chance Policy, which the department had to carry out.

"But at the same time, this discharge is subject to their commitment and ability," she told a press conference after launching the programme. She said there was a fast track for certain cases.
