PETALING JAYA: Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNPk) and Global Vision Lab Sdn Bhd (GVL) are exploring a proposed artificial intelligence (AI) data centre development in Perak, with a planned power capacity exceeding 100 megawatts (MW).

The proposal aims to meet the growing demand for AI computing, high-performance computing and graphics processing unit-based applications in Malaysia and the wider region.

As an initial step, both parties have signed a non-disclosure agreement and a letter of consent to facilitate the exchange of information and preliminary assessments of the project’s technical, infrastructure and commercial potential.

In a joint statement today, the two parties said the proposal has the potential to strengthen Perak’s role in the digital ecosystem by laying the groundwork for infrastructure development that supports AI applications and high-performance computing.
