Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, Sany said homes, offices and business premises should also display the five Rukun Negara principles so they would be better remembered and put into practice.
He said these measures would foster patriotism and strengthen the public's sense of responsibility towards the country.
"I propose that from next year, the government should make it compulsory for everyone to fly the Jalur Gemilang as a sign of our love and affection for the country," he said.
