The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry will enhance local cybersecurity technology development and support startups to safeguard sensitive national data against evolving cyber threats.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI) will continue to strengthen the development of the country’s cybersecurity technology to mitigate the risk of attacks, particularly those targeting sensitive information and strategic interests.

Its minister, Datuk Chang Lih Kang, said this was important in view of the growing threat of cyberattacks, not only in Malaysia but worldwide.

While cyberattacks could not be entirely prevented, he said efforts must be stepped up to ensure that the country’s critical information is not exposed to such threats.
