(AFP pic)PETALING JAYA: The families of 28 of the 54 Malaysian victims of the Nepal floods on Aug 26 will receive benefits under the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso), says human resources minister R Ramanan.

Ramanan said the 28 victims met Perkeso’s contribution requirements, entitling their next of kin to a total payout of RM174,000.

The benefits comprise immediate financial aid of RM3,000 a victim, and a survivors’ pension under the Invalidity Scheme.

“I understand that to this day, these families continue to face uncertainty regarding the fate of their loved ones. I am well aware that no form of assistance can truly alleviate such anxiety.
