PH is fielding young candidates, including (from left) Mukhlisul Mubin Julasapiyah, Farzana Hayani Nasir, Jason Tze-Xi Nathan and P Denesh, in the Melaka election on Nov 14.PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan’s decision to field young candidates in the Melaka election aims to ensure the elected representatives reflect changing voter demographics, a PKR Youth leader says.
PKR Youth deputy chief Chiew Choon Man said the move is particularly relevant following the implementation of Undi18 and automatic voter registration.
It would also give a new generation the opportunity to prove their leadership capabilities while bringing fresh perspectives to address current challenges, he said.
Chiew described PH’s decision to place its trust in young candidates as a bold move that should be welcomed, noting that many prominent national leaders had also embarked on their leadership journeys at a young age.
