KUCHING, Oct 5: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth has rejected the ‘Sarawak versus Malaysia’ narrative surrounding the State’s oil and gas rights, saying PETROS’ role as Sarawak’s sole gas aggregator can coexist with PETRONAS’ continued role in the wider petroleum industry.

In a statement, PRS Youth chief Christopher Gira Sambang commented on recent remarks by former Federal Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, who questioned PETROS’ position, suggesting that its role as Sarawak’s gas aggregator could take billions of ringgit in business away from PETRONAS.

“This issue is not about weakening PETRONAS. Neither is it about Sarawak fighting the federal government. It is about recognising Sarawak’s rights, respecting our laws and establishing a clear framework for PETROS and PETRONAS to work together,” he said.
