PETALING JAYA: The government will cover half the cost of studies for public servants pursuing master's and PhD programmes through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Qualification (Apel.Q) programme.

Public services department (JPA) director-general Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz said the programme was among the department's new initiatives aimed at providing public servants with opportunities to improve their academic qualifications based on their work experience.

He said those who had been in service for many years would have the opportunity to pursue higher education as their work experience would be taken into account.
