PETALING JAYA: Myanmar is prepared to facilitate the repatriation of its nationals on a large scale and bear the associated costs, says Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
He said more than 10,493 Myanmar citizens and personnel had so far been repatriated to Myanmar by air and sea, with further repatriations to be negotiated between Malaysia's home ministry and its Myanmar counterpart.
Anwar said Malaysia appreciated Myanmar's willingness to take back its nationals.
“Hardly any country, in my experience, is willing to accept repatriation in large numbers at its own expense as you have shown in Myanmar,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama at a joint press conference with Myanmar president Min Aung Hlaing in Putrajaya today.
