MCMC said it will cooperate with several other agencies in the investigation, including the police as well as the communications, home and education ministries.

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has confirmed receiving a complaint over the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) to create and distribute sexual images and videos, allegedly involving students and teachers, at a school in Kedah.

In a statement, MCMC said the misuse of AI to create or distribute sexual content that could affect the safety, dignity and wellbeing of victims, particularly children, is subject to action under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588).

It said licensed service providers also have child protection obligations under Section 18 of the Online Safety Act 2025.
