JOHOR BAHRU: Police today confirmed that the shooting at Jalan Gertak Merah near the Johor Zoo here yesterday involved an officer who fired at a car being driven in a dangerous manner by a man with a criminal record.

Johor police chief Ab Rahaman Arsad said the 28-year-old suspect, who was driving a Honda City with a 29-year-old female companion, was chased by police for 1km before the shooting occurred. Various types of drugs were also found.

Police fired two shots after the car rammed into several civilian vehicles, one of which hit the male suspect in the head.
