Timer systems for street lights, which are typically turned on automatically from 7pm to 7am, would be adjusted to provide greater visibility. (Bernama pic)PONTIAN: Street lights under the jurisdiction of the public works department (JKR) will stay lit for up to two hours longer during haze conditions to help improve visibility for road users, deputy works minister Ahmad Maslan said.
He said JKR would adjust the timer systems that controlled street lighting, as haze conditions cause reduced visibility and increased the risk of accidents.
Ahmad said street lights typically turned on from 7pm to 7am. "Each street light has a timer setting that can be adjusted. During haze conditions, the operating hours can be extended by up to two hours," he said.
