IPOH: States must translate the National Disaster Risk Reduction Policy 2030 into concrete action plans based on local risks, with clear responsibilities and implementation targets.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this was crucial as the country braced for potential floods during the Northeast Monsoon and prolonged hot and dry weather linked to the risk of El Nino.

Zahid said both scenarios required early preparation and close coordination among government agencies to minimise risks and protect lives.

"I want every state to translate the National Disaster Risk Reduction Policy 2030 into action plans according to local risks, with clear agency responsibilities and implementation targets.
