Wanita PKR executive committee member Farahida Fauzi, who lodged the report in Kuantan, urged the authorities to conduct an immediate, transparent and impartial investigation, Bernama reported. She said the public should not make fun of religion to attract attention, provoke others or seek popularity.
Yesterday, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission said it had recorded a statement and seized a mobile phone and an eSIM for forensic examination in an investigation over the use of the word “lighad”, which refers to a Quranic verse, in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s budget speech on Friday.
