KUALA LUMPUR: Ministers must fulfil their promises to provide written answers to parliamentary questions.
Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said ministers should inform their respective ministry secretaries-general whenever they commit to submitting written replies to ensure the answers are delivered within the stipulated period.
"Do not simply make a promise in this House without informing your officers, as they may not be aware of it. Therefore, I am giving five days for the replies to be submitted," he said during the Dewan Rakyat sitting.
Johari said he had records of ministries that had failed to provide written answers despite having made such commitments.
