He said patients requiring such treatment could apply for approval through the ministry’s existing special drug approval mechanism.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry has seized 697 units of unapproved Retatrutide, a GLP-1 drug, worth RM341,000 in 12 raids since 2025, amid growing concerns over the illegal online sale and misuse of weight-loss and diabetes medications.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the seizures were carried out by the ministry’s Pharmacy Enforcement Division. Retatrutide is not registered with the Drug Control Authority (DCA) and is therefore not permitted for sale, import, marketing or supply in Malaysia.

“The seizures involved an estimated value of RM341,000, and the product has yet to be included in our approved formulations,” he said during the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today.
