GEORGE TOWN: Former chief minister Lim Guan Eng wants the state government to establish a State Commission of Inquiry (SCI) into the fatal landslide in Taman Seri Rambai, Paya Terubong.

His call follows a similar appeal by a coalition of Penang non-governmental organisations (NGOs) last week.

Debating the state's 2027 Budget at the state legislative assembly, the Air Putih assemblyman said an independent and impartial investigation was essential to ensure all responsible parties were held accountable.

The landslide occurred behind a residence along Lebuh Rambai 13 in Taman Seri Rambai on the morning of Oct 25.
