Anwar says Malaysia may be a potential target of cyber and hybrid threats, prompting stronger security coordination and a proposed closed-door briefing for MPs.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is strengthening its national security preparedness against potential cyber and hybrid threats, with a special closed-door briefing for all Members of Parliament proposed within the next one to two days.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the move was necessary in view of recent international security developments, stressing that threats emerging overseas could have implications for Malaysia’s national security, economic stability and strategic interests.

He said the Chief Secretary to the Government would chair a meeting with relevant departments this afternoon, while Bank Negara Malaysia governor would convene a special meeting with domestic financial institutions.
