Anwar reveals serious misconduct in the MPP and TSGP projects, saying RM8.3 billion was paid despite limited progress. MACC investigations are ongoing.

KUALA LUMPUR: The government detected serious misconduct in the implementation of the Multiproduct Pipeline (MPP) and Trans-Sabah Gas Pipeline (TSGP) projects, after RM8.3 billion was paid despite only 13% of the physical work being completed.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the amount paid represented 88% of the total contract value, highlighting significant weaknesses in the projects’ implementation.

He said the main issue stemmed from the payment mechanism, under which contractors were paid according to a predetermined schedule rather than the actual progress of work on site.
