A student from SMK Sultanah Asma presented Anwar Ibrahim with a decades-old photograph of his first electoral victory, bringing back cherished political memories.

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was taken on a trip down memory lane when a student presented him with a photograph commemorating his first victory in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency in 1982.

Anwar said he was deeply moved by the gesture from Zahra Mohamad Zelman, a student of SMK Sultanah Asma in Alor Setar, Kedah, who approached him alongside several schoolmates during a parliamentary sitting to hand over the decades-old photograph.

In a Facebook post, he explained that the picture captured a moment when he was congratulated by Zahra’s late great-grandfather, Arshad Ahmad, following his maiden electoral victory.
