TAWAU: A 12-year-old boy with autism was burnt to death in a fire that destroyed 30 houses at Kampung Sentosa, Jalan Utara Baru, here, this morning.
The body of Jackson Zack was found by firefighters in a bedroom of his house at 10am. He was pronounced dead by Health Ministry medical personnel.
Tawau Fire and Rescue Station chief Jemishin Ujin said the department received an emergency call at 6.44am, and the first fire engine arrived at the scene three minutes later.
He said the fire initially involved six houses, including semi-permanent and non-permanent structures, before spreading rapidly and destroying another 24 houses.
